EXPERIENCES

MIDDLE EASTERN LANGUAGES & CULTURES

As part of these studies at the Hamilton Lugar School, I have an area studies & foreign-language concentration in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures. I've had eight semesters of formal Arabic classes and have reading, writing, listening and speaking in Modern Standard Arabic, and in the Levantine (also called Shami: Jordanian, Syrian, and Lebanese) dialect. I've studied abroad in Amman, the capital of Jordan, for four months, taking coursework in the Middle Eastern Studies program of CIEE. We took excursions with our program to locations in Jordan like Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea, and Jerash; my friends and I traveled to Cairo, Egypt and Dubai, UAE on our own time.

At Indiana University, I worked part-time as a student ambassador to the Arabic Flagship Program, shaping and supporting the academic structure of the program, and the program-wide events for members, faculty and administration. I had responsibilities such as preparing and executing program events, providing input for the academic direction, and general notetaking and recordkeeping for office of the Flagship Program.

CYBERSECURITY & GLOBAL POLICY

I took part in the Cybersecurity Clinic which provides pro bono cybersecurity assistance to critical public infrastructure and community organizations. I was also a member then exec-board member of Women in Computing at IU, an organization of students that promoting, celebrating, and empowering women in technology.

What else I've been up to!

Currently in Fort Wayne, Indiana where I enjoy hobbies like running, playing music, crafts, and bar karaoke! I love meeting new people, discovering fun and exciting places in & around Indiana, and pursuing being a lifelong learner. I love to read about American & global history, social sciences, and anything from Half Priced Books that peaks my interest!
